Plantar Fascitiis
Heel Spur Syndrome
Pain at bottom of heel, along the arch, pain that gets worst with activity or most commonly pain in heel after rest or 1st step in AM is indicative for HSS, PF. (Heel Spur Syndrome, Plantar Fasciitis)
This can be caused by overuse, an excessively high arch as well as a flat foot. All cause an abnormal pull of the fascia on the heel resulting in fasciitis, swelling of the fascia and bursitis sometimes spur formation. Trauma, sports overuse, or overuse can also cause HSS. Pathomechanics (abnormal biomechanics or abnormal foot function) is often the underlying issue and needs to be evaluated diagnosed and treated often times with a custom orthotic (arch support).
Most HSS symptoms respond to conservative care including injection, NSAIDS, stretching. Orthotics usually add lasing relief as they manage abnormal biomechanics that can contribute to plantar fasciitis.
